In The Host by Stephenie Meyer I am a bit confused.... help!?

Wanderer is part of an alien race that has invaded the plant. They implant themselves in humans and live out lives here on this planet. So basically Wanderer has taken over Melanie's body. Wanderer should be able to access Melanie's memories and give information to the seekers but Melanie is blocking her. Melanie's conciousness should not still be there but she is so basically Wanderer is sharing Melanie's body when she should be controlling it completely without interference from Melanie. A seeker is a profession for these aliens, they find native people who do not have an alien in them, i.e. the resisistance. A healer is like a doctor, what they do is explained better in later chapters. Melanie is not pregnant. I believe a comforter is an alien who has already been on a planet for a while and helps those who are new to the planet adapt. Melanie was on the run because she had not had an alien implanted in her yet and she did not want that. She was caught and now her body is playing host to Wanderer. More is given about her life when she was running later.

1) A seeker is a soul who's area of work is to hunt down remaining humans so they can be taken to have a soul placed inside them to keep the soul's society safe from the danger and violence of humans :D

5) Melanie is human and she didn't want to be caught to have a soul inside her. She was running from the seekers who were after her. These are memories.

6) Wanderer is inside Melanie's body and controlling everything, although Melanie is still present inside her head. Melanie is no longer on the run because she was caught and had Wanderer put inside her.

7) Basically- a human girl (Melanie) was trying to survive on Earth where aliens (Souls) have taken over. A healer called Fords inserts a strong soul called Wanderer inside Melanies body and Wanderer finds that Melanie is still present inside her head when she shouldn't be. A seeker wants Wanderer to tell her where Melanie was hiding, if there are more of the humans ect.. because thats her job. Melanie has a hard time adjusting in Melanie's body since Mel is still there in the back of her head.

A seeker is a soul that is put into a human body, and they're more aggressive then others of their kind, simply because of that fact that the control everything. You can kind of think of them like the FBI of our world, really. A healer is just a doctor in our world, it's that simply, just a more complex name. Melanie is NOT pregnant, I'm not sure what gave off that impression? Never was, and never will be. A comforter is like a theropist in our world, trying to help people who are having simple emotional problems within their lives. Melanie is on the run, because a new species has come to earth, and they basically attach themselves onto human bodies, and the humans soul dissapears, so it's not the species body. Melanie is one of the few humans left, and she's running because she does not want to be caught my seekers, and have one of the species put in her body so she dissapears. Melanie is NOT on the run anymore, at this point, when wanderd visits her theropist. See, melanie is a special case, because when wandered was put into her body, she DIDN'T DISSAPEAR, so she's still there. But she's almost like another thought process of wandered, she's just in the back of her mind. In the first few chapters, wandered is getting use to melanies body and trying to make melanie dissapear. Now, I urge you not to stop reading this novel, because it is indeed confsuing. Many people stop after a few chapters, because they can't keep up. But once you keep reading, everything starts stichting together. It's really a great book, and I hope you enjoy.

5) Scenes of Melanie on the run are flashbacks in Wanderer's mind. They are events that happened before Wanderer took over Melanie's body. So, Melanie running from the alien souls is from before her capture.

6) The scenes aren't all in order. It's like you're seeing what Wanderer sees, as she "remembers" things from Melanie's past.

7) The first few chapters are all about Wanderer being inserted into Melanie's body, and then learning how to deal with her new body, which is more mentally "alive" than she imagined it could be, if the host mind is gone. Her job is to use Melanie's memories to uncover where the other rogue humans are, so that the aliens can take over their bodies, too. But Melanie's mind keeps blocking Wanderer from the important memories. Wanderer finds out that Melanie is not, in fact, gone... her mind is still alive, and Wanderer begins to feel Melanie's feelings as her own.

6) It's just all in the head, mental. Melanie is trying to be in control of her body, but Wanderer is controlling the body.

7) What's happening is that Melanie was being chased by the Host "souls that took over the body" and she wanted to protect herself from the danger. She tried to kill herself to prevent the others using her body to be host. So, in the beginning, the healer put the soul *Wanderer* into Melanie. When Wanderer try to get into the body to settle in, the memories weren't not easily access for her because Melanie is well aware of that. It's unusual for Melanie to be awake in the mind, so Wanderer thinks this is terrible and has to put up with her as they share the same body now. So, the healer is trying to help Wanderer to get those memories through easier, but Melanie won't allow it. Melanie is in control of the memories of her past. Wanderer controls the body. Simple as that.

Of course, later on, Wanderer spent her time teaching the class full of souls *host* about different kinds of lives she spent into. Melanie falls asleep while Wanderer lecture, so, it's natural for Wanderer to share stories. Kind of like being at the college school they're at.

If you continue reading it, you'll be able to understand it a bit more. Wanderer will explain a bit more. Think of it this way, two heads as one. Melanie is inside of Wanderer's head, but Wanderer is the soul who is the host of the body. Melanie is well aware that her body been invaded so she's trying to protect her loves one like her brother and her boyfriend so they won't be turned into like Melanie got hosted by Wanderer.

Do what everyone else did and read the entire book. Then you will find out.

but...her writing is so basic and bland. How could you possibly be confused? Is it because its boring? Say boring then, not confused.
