Can you feel a titanium rod from a fusion?
I am getting a fusion in my L5-S1 tomorrow and I have had two other back surgeries before. I am wondering how this will compare to the other surgeries I have had and the pain I will have after wards.
I have heard that if it is cold out, that you can feel the coldness in the rod. Is this true?
I am not worried about the actually surgery, but rather the recovery compered to the previous laminectomy and discetomy I have had.
I am much yonger than most who are getting this surgery, they say young is 41, I am 22 and so I feel like I am a lot of perceptive.
As of now, I can actually feel my spine when it is out of line, it would be painful for most, but its just a weird feeling for me. I have a really high pain tolorrence.

You won't feel cold like 10 degrees less cold,it will be impacted on your spine,and
furthermore the rod itself is made of an alloy ,not 100 titanium that is a poor heat transfer rate.Once
it is in place the heat from your body will prevail on the device !! Not to worry

No... You would not be able to feel it. My grandmother had a fusion and you cant feel hers. I know other people who has titanium rods and they cant feel it.
