Can anyone give me an idea of what I did to my wrist, and what I should do now?

About a week ago I slammed my wrist into a door frame. About 3" below the last joint in the thumb it left a little dent. It never swelled or bruised, nothing. But my arm aches so bad I can hardly stand it. I have tried applying ice, that didn't help. I have tried heat, that didn't help. I have taken ibuprofen, still no relief. I can still move it, it is just really painful. I would appreciate any suggestions. Ya- other than I need to stop moving so fast and watch where I am going- I'm 50 and still trying to master that one!

Thanks!

general injury rule: ice for the first 48 hours, heat thereafter.

normally bone fractures occur with swelling. so it's likely a soft tissue injury. they can take six weeks to heal.

I wonder if you might have damaged the nerve, I had non-specific wrist pain for like 6 months and the doc said that he felt that I had an inflamed tendon. All they did was give me ibuprofen and a wrist brace, because it hurt like crazy to turn my wrist at all. My friend thought I fractured it slightly, and I figured that being clumsy as I am, that is possible, but from what I know about broken bones, they tend to hurt all the time, not just when you move the limb. If it hurts all the time, I guess I would go see a doc. If its the tendon, you can get wrist braces at Kmart and ibuprofen...save yourself the medical bill because thats all they will do for ya.
