The fire department placed a red and white "R" sign on my condo building. What is the meaning of the sign?

Where do you live? Canada or USA? State would be helpful.

Your best bet would be to call your local fire dept. I honestly never heard of the R sign you speak of.

Only thing i can really think of is your house classification which is "Resistive type I B" and even then, they wouldn't put a R sign on your house. Although it is called a "Group R building".

Sorry, all i can give you.

That's assuming you live in a split level house.

    Call them and ask them

Around here they have certain type of address signs that denote occupants are unable to evacuate themselves in case of fire and need rescue.

    Could be something like that
