Post Surgery(Ankle Arthroscopy) Pain?

First I am planning on calling my doctor tuesday morning so please do not include this in your response. I had surgery 5/25 and took pain killers very regularly up through thursday night. I had an apt friday and the doctor said everything looked good. The next day when I sat up and put my foot on the floor I got pain near the one incision but not the other and it went away after a few minutes. The next day the pain lingered a little longer. Now I have an agonising burning pain whenever I do not have my ankle elevated. I have followed the Drs instructions religiously, lots of ice, kept it elevated and rested. Could this indicate an infection, some other complication or is this normal and a result of taking the pain killers sporadically. I am only looking for opinions on cause of the pain not what to do.

Update:

Hello. I didn't ask for what to look for. I asked what it could be. Why can't people just answer the actual question.

    Hello Linnea13

Monitor your temperature, that would be an indication of post procedural infection. Also watch for unusual swelling, pain to the touch, and hotness at the area of the procedure. Your physician will probably want to take a look at it, and maybe take a blood sample for white blood cell count. Hang in there, you will heal over time.
