Where to go on our Honeymoon?

My fiancee and I having a bit of difficulty in deciding where we'd like to go for our Honeymoon.

Places I don't want to go: anywhere in South-East Asia, Australia (as I live there).

Places my fiancee doesn't want to go: Africa (which is a bummer because I've always wanted to go to Tanzania and Kenya), South America.

We're really open to suggestions right now. It doesn't have to be near a beach; can be inland or coastal. We would be leaving early May 2011.

If you have had a wonderful experience on your Honeymoon, where did you go and would you mind sharing a little story about the place?

My fiance and I had an amazing time in Cyprus. We spent the majority of out time in Pathos... it is so beautiful there. You can go to the beach where it is said Persephone herself had risen from the sea (yes, it is THAT beautiful)

    Greece is another great option

Atlantis, Paradise Island, Nassau the Bahamas. Might have gone a bit touristy as I see commercials for the place now but it is beautiful and has a casino an a club and just wonderful wonderful beaches. Not as exclusive as it once was and I doubt you could have the near privacy in Priate's Cove that we enjoyed, more people know about theplace now a days. It is a grand place still, Stay in the Coral Towers or the Royal, because the other one, the lower rent segment is just the old buildings of the old resort painted up to match the rest. The Coral and Royal towers were built when the site became Atlantis and they are much much nicer. My brother got married there 7 years ago and it was still pretty fabulous then so it could still be wonderful.

We're going to end up doing the same thing. Around our wedding was just before a busy time at work for both of us, so wasn't a good time to go away for a couple of weeks. We had originally planned to delay the honeymoon just a few months, to right after the busy period. However, I changed jobs in the meantime, and can't take time off the new job when we'd planned the delayed honeymoon. I will be able to take time off a bit before our first anniversary, so we've decided to go then. Better late than never, I say! It might not be the most common, but you're certainly not the only one taking a very delayed honeymoon. Have a great time!

It's a little hard for an American to give honeymoon advice to an Australian, but I'll toss out some suggestions. We don't know your budget or length you want to be gone, but maybe these will give you some ideas. Also, you have ruled out 3 and a half continents, and you don't go to Antarctica in May, so that's 4 and a half -- doesn't leave us much to work with.

China -- Beijing, Xian, Suzhou, Hong Kong

Singapore -- I know you said no SE Asia, but I loved Singapore

    A cruise

    Europe -- Rome, Paris, London

    Russia -- Moscow, St. Petersburg

    Bali or Tahiti

    Switzerland -- hiking and skiing

    New Zealand -- skiing

I've planned many honeymoons for couples, and the best advice is don't travel too far if you only have seven days. You don't want to spend two days on a plane to get there.

I am going to the Florida keys this summer. It seems like a really nice place that a lot of people vacation at. Alaska would be cool and different from where you live as well. I wish you both luck have fun :)

Roatan, Honduras. Fantastic Caribbean island hosting the second largest coral reef. It might not be so awesome though by the time you go, considering the Oil Spill
