    It is just fine.

Sweetened condensed milk can vary in color from a creamy color like yours to a dark cream almost a light tan.

As far as expiration dates a can of sweetened condensed milk has a very, very long shelf life. As a matter of fact I have found that sometimes the milk does darken as it gets older. But I have never had a problem with any of the sweetened condensed milk.

By the way if you ever run out here is a recipe for a homemade sweetened condensed milk.

    Sweetened Condensed Milk

    1/3 Cup boiling water

    4 Tb butter

    3/4 Cup sugar

    1/2 tsp vanilla extract

    1 Cup powdered milk

Use electric mixer, blend together water, butter, sugar and vanilla. Add powdered milk and blend until thick. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week

Makes the equivalent of 1 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk.

Although it looks darker than the original "Eagle Brand Milk" variety, it looks fine. I have used the generic brands and have found that they too are darker in color than the "Eagle Brand Milk" variety. Can you taste it with your finger to tell for sure before you use it in a recipe? That is what I would recommend just because I wouldn't trust the opinion of someone answering through a photo.

    Good luck!
