Can i do bicep curls with the same barbell as for the bench press?

Im 16 yr old. I do normal bicep curls with the 6 ft barbell which is for bench press also. Im using the same barbell for both . But my brother said that i should not do bicep curl with the same barbell [6 ft] as for chest. He says i should get a 5ft barbell to do bicep curls. Is he right? Should i change my barbell? Please help......thnxxx

Lol i dont know what your brother is talking about but he is far from correct if you have an Olympic bar it is completely ok to use it for biceps it is very effective but there is always a great debate over which is better barbells or dumbbells so after reading this you might want to make a decision and buy sum dumbbells. i use both every bicep workout i am 5'9 195 of muscle been bodybuilding six years check this site out

i have found that doing them seperate works better. and the running motion is better if you want to do 2 at once.
