Present for a 1yr old?

Question

My Godson is turning 1 at the wkend and i dont know what to buy him. i dont want to go with the usual toys or clothes as he will get somany of those. As his Godmother i feel like i should get him some kind of keepsake. Any ideas???

Get a tree the 2 of you can plant together...    He and the tree can grow up together taking pictures to show both their progress along the way...

What about having a quilt made that he can grow up with? Something soft yet special.  My kids favorite things are the quilts my mother bought them.

Or maybe some kind of investment  in his name.

My grandmother would give us savings bonds when we were little. 

Maybe some kind of wooden horse or rocking airplane with his name painted on it.

maybe some kind of picture or message thing that they could hang up in his room like an encouraging message written on a heart or something.
