What issues do we as americans face over the burning of the Quran?

I'm doing a debate project over this topic and could use a little information on it.

What exactly is going on with this issue and how are Muslims reacting to it?

How is it a danger to us as Americans do to the book being holy to the Muslim religion?

How are these issues a protest to the 9/11 attacks?

What message are we sending out to the rest of the world by doing this?

Feel free to leave your own opinions but please be respectful and can you help me out buy sending me links to some good websites that discuss this issue?

The issues you have is to actually give a f*ck about clowns like Terry Jones.

    1. The issue causing this dispute is the thinly (and not very effectively) veiled animosity between followers of two major religions. While I think he is a total twerp, Rev. Jones has an interesting point. In our country, we open our arms to all who follow the law to get here. Which means Muslims can immigrate if they go through the appropriate hoops. But the reciprocal situation - Muslim-majority nations tolerating Christians - doesn't happen.

    2. The problem that makes Jones a twerp is that two wrongs don't make a right. They make a war.

    3. Book-burning is a danger to us in that it would violate our own rules about freedom of religion as well as freedom of the press.

    4. It is related to 9/11 through my point # 1, another case where push comes to shove.

Burning books is associated historically with acts of extreme violence and hatred. That doesn't mean that is their intent, but its something they should be aware of, and probably the main reason so many westerners are opposed to it.

Ironically burning a Quran is one of the respectful ways to dispose of a Quran if you need to get rid of it.

I'm not against offending muslims, or anyone for that matter. Participating in a -use x holy book to stabilize table day- Or - Use x holy book as doorstop day -

Wouldn't bother me, It's probably not a useful criticism, so i might not participate, but it doesn't have the same violent connotations of book burning.

The proposal to burn a copy of the Koran by a preacher is in no way different from the proposal to build a mosque anywhere near ground zero. the Muslims intend to build a community center and a mosques on a site owned by them . They have the constitutional right and religious freedom to do so .But it is not right to do so on their part in utter disregard of the sensibility of the Americans whose relatives were killed by the foolish fundamentalist terrorist Muslims in the name of Islam , shouting "Allahu akbar " as an insult and humiliation to the American people .The Muslims who intend to build the mosque on a site near the site of this heinous crime , should also have the same sensibility as any other Americans if they are really citizens of that country.

Similarly the preacher who intends to burn a copy of the Koran who owns that Book has the same constitutional right and freedom of expression of his opposition or dissent by burning the book he owns , But it is not a right thing to do in disregard to the sensiblity of the Muslims who hold the book as something sacred .As a responsible citizen of the country , the preacher has responded positively to the requests of people and desisted from doing it .But the Muslims as characteristic of the Muslims do nt think of respecting the sensibilities of the people of the majority community in the country and persist with the idea of construction the center in utter disregard of the feelings of the people .This shows the real object of the proposal to insult and humiliate the Americans by the islamic fundamentalists . The Islamic religious institutiuons have the neferaious reputation of allowing the terrorists and fundamentalists to hoard arms and ammuntions in their religious institutions. elsewhere

They seem to cling on to the proposal ,merely and soley on the basis of the constitutional right by striking a red hot knife into the wounds of the people , caused by the Muslim terrorists in the name of their own religion.

The American preacher has respected the feeling of the Muslims and given up his right to burn a book that he owns but the Muslims claiming to be citizens of the same country and wishig to contribute to peace are really contributing to unrest and disrution of peace adamently by adding insult to the jnjuries of the people of their own country.in the nameof their religion.

The intended act of the Muslims and the Preacher are the same ; but the character of the Christian preacher and the Muslims are totally different .- one is humane and sensible and the other inhuman .and insensible .

I think it's hard for Muslims in the middle to understand what a free country is. They will probably think this is what everyone in the US like and hate us even more.

1 - it gives the 'extremists' a reason

2 - if the 'extremists' react... people who think it's childish and stupid are more likely to get hurt then the ones responsible

3 - the same way burning a bible is a protest to the Inquisition.... it's not, it's just a stupid act of hate.

    4 - we are ignorant

None, but that doesn't mean we should.
