Not understanding math problem can you help me?

So the book says that I need to determine the slope of the line through the given points. If the slope is undefined, so state.

The problem is (-3,-5) and (-1,-2).

What steps am I suppose to take?

Update:

Thank you. I was wondering why 3/2 was positive and -3/2.

Update 2:

I meant to say I wonder why is it 3/2 and not -3/2.

    slope=rise/run

    here (change in rise)/(change in run)

    (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

    either point can be 2 or 1

    whichever way is easier to subtract

    just keep them in the correct order

    (-2-(-5))/(-1-(-3))

    (-2+5)/(-1+3)

    3/2

    slope=3/2

    Use slope formula. m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) plug in the points

    ( -2 - (-5)) / (-1 -(-3))

    (3) / (2)

    m = 3/2

    All you have to do is find the slope so use the equation

    m=y2-y1

    (over)

    x2-x1

    change in y / change in x

    (-3,-5) and (-1,-2)

    [-2-(-5)] /[-1-(-3)]

    [-2+5]/[-1+3]

    3/2 slope
