Found a sick kitten 4-5 weeks need care advice?

Hi I just found a little kitten that has seemingly been abandoned, he also has a badly infected eye. I rang the vet and he said to clean it with cooled boiled water and he will see him tomorrow. I have him in a box with a hot water bottle wrapped in some towels. I don't have any replacement milk and won't be able to get any until tomorrow as it's almost 12 at night where I am living. Should I try and give him some cows milk or just wait until the morning. Any other tips are much appreciated, thanks.

    Hello fellow cat rescuer :)

First of all, I think your a great person for helping the little thing out.

Don't give it cows milk. I've heard many times that it's not good for cats, especially kittens. It's eye should be fine. Kittens (especially strays) get eye infections all the time. Just keep it clean and monitor the kitten. If it's sneezing let the vet know, because that could be an upper respitory infection. For now just give it water. It can wait until tomorrow for kitten milk.

Are you sure it's 4-5 weeks? If it's ears are pointed it may be a bit older and can eat solid food. If you happen to have wet cat food you could delude it a bit with water, put some on your finger, and see if it takes it. If it takes the food you won't really need to bottle feed it. Though you should add some powder supplement to the food so it gets the nutrition it needs. You could go to a petstore and ask about that.

Check for fleas and keep it warm. If the tips of it's ears are cold, the kitten needs to get warmer. I know this might sond weird..but put it down your shirt against your bare skin, and just let it cuddle with you.

    Hope this helps!

I've rescued kittens and cats before. I'm not a vet or anything, but I have tons of personal experience. Oh and are you planning on keeping it? If not I would strongly suggest on not taking it to a shelter. Shelters are very over crowded and its eye infection will just get worse. Plus you don't know if it'll actually get adopted. If your going to keep it that's great and I wish you luck. If not, start talking to friends to see if anyone will take him in.

Buy kitten dry food, do not feed it milk because they get diarrhea from it. Treat it like an ordinary cat. Play with it, love it, take very well care of it, and just have a good time. Your bonding will grow deeper and deeper and you'll see he/she will be a great companion towards you. Keep it away from wires and dangerous areas of the house that hold your cleaning products and such. Do not let him get hurt. I suggest you keep it in one room that is safest from all during the times you are not home. Dont let them roam around the house when your not there, they are still not situated and experienced with what your house has to offer. You should take it to the vet and get it check out, let them give him the necessary shots and vaccines. And neuter/spay them asap. They will be calmer, and healthier, with a longer life expectancy. Hope you enjoy your new kitty!!!

Here's an emergency recipe. Do your best until you can get to the store tomorrow. A little of something is better than nothing.

    2/3 cup homogenized whole milk

    3 raw egg yolks

    1 tablespoon corn oil

Almost forgot, at that age they are ready to be weaning so if you have canned cat food around he can have some of that. You can mix it with water to form a gruel and see if he'll it eat. Or if you happen to have meat baby food around, make sure there's no onions and he can have that...

You can give it warm or cold milk and give it moist food or cheese
