What is the easiest wat to give my cat medicine?

My 4 month old kitten is going to be given steroid pills for an auto immune infection in her ears,

She is a very skittish cat and I am not sure of the best way to give her the pills.

We have to give her 1 a day for up to 6 weeks.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance :)

When my cat needed pills, I dunked the pill in a bit of sauce and gently held him on that bit of skin on his neck (where the female cats pick their kittens up) and open his mouth and simply slip the pill into this throat, he wasn't very happy with me but atleast he took the pills. Seeing that you still have a kitten, it will be a bit easier. My cat is enormous and very strong so it was quite a messy job :)

If it's still too hard to give her the medicine that way, crunch the pill up and mix it into wet cat food or put it into a piece of meat, that can also work.

Good luck and I hope your kitty gets better!

Be VERY careful with crushing any medicines (either for yourself or your pet). Some medicines are time-released and crushing them will create severe problems for the person/animal that has taken the medicines. ASK your vet if it is okay to crush the medicine. (Ask your physician if it is okay for you to crush your medicine; never simply think that it is okay to do this.)

Most of the time, simply hiding the pill in a small soft bite of food works. But the vet should have shown you their method of getting the pill into the kittens mouth (basically they teach you the SAFE way) to shove the pill down their throat!

Talk to your vet they usually have ideas on how to give pill to cats.

The easiest way to give my cat medicine is to cut off all food for 4 hours before it's time to give her the medicine, take and crush the pill up, take a little bit (like a half teaspoon) of canned food and mix the crushed pill in with the food. Give it to the cat to eat and make sure she eats it all then give her the rest of the food.

Try using cheese. I did this when I needed to give my kitten worming tablets. Just mould the cheese around the pill, concealing the pill, and the cat should go for it. Providing it likes cheese anyways. It can take a few tries if the cheese isn't really well moulded around the pill.

Try breaking it up and putting it in wet cat food. If that doesn't work, try tuna/sardines. (The smellier the better.)

Go to the petstore and get a product called pill pockets. They are like treats which wrap around the pill.

you would be able to desire to get a pill gun, attempt pill wallet, lather it in butter and positioned it in her mouth or you would be able to desire to return the pills and get the liquid clavamox that maintains to be perplexing yet in all threat is not any longer relatively as traumatizing for all in contact. additionally in case you have funds attainable ask your vet in the event that they convey Convenia. Convenia is injectable antibiotic that may normally be used extremely than clavamox. One injection lasts 2 weeks at a cost of roughly 60 funds. according to threat much greater because it relies upon on the cats weight. As you spot pilling a cat is amazingly perplexing and its serious antibiotics are given precisely as prescribed or they are valueless. Giving an injection is lots greater easy and if prefer be that's risk-free to offer a 2d injection if greater suitable antibiotics are required.
