My Cat Hoards Things. Is This Normal?
We have two cats. They get along just fine, however one cat hoards things constantly. Every week when I clean the house, I find a variety of things (i.e. my wife's hair bands, socks, jewelry, chapstick, garbage, etc.) hidden in a neat little pile under the bed. He has other hiding places around the house too.
Is he mad at us? Does he think these things are his? Is he trying to play a game? Just wondering if this happens to anyone else.

is normal, cats are playful and sometimes, doing it to draw the attention of the owner, my cat does very similar things.
do not worry, let him have fun.

If he can get to loose things around the house he just thinks he is allowed to have them. He is either hiding them from you or just likes play with them under the bed. He's normal. But be careful he doesn't get to something he can swallow, since he likes odd things! Kind of funny, you should set up a video camera!

Yes. Lots of cats like different things. Your cat must be obsessed with soft and shiny things. The garbage must include wrappers and other glittery things, right? Just like people collect stamps and stuff, and raven and barracudas collect jewelry for obsession and greed, cats collect things that make them at ease or excited.

Yes it is normal. Not all cats do, but some yes. I had 8 cats and only one was doing that, no one knows yet why they do that. I think its cute especially if you catch him/her in action, the way they carry those things, cute....

he's probably hiding it because he thinks he has to hide it from the other cat (even though both are taken care of), it's instinctual.
My dog used to hide his chewy treats even though he was the only pet we had for a while. My sister's dogs hide their treats around my house when I puppy-sit and her cats hide things all around the farm. They stash them for later to keep others from getting them.

It is not unknown, but also not common. It will give you lots of joy to look back upon, bringing many smiles long after your hoarder cat has departed this world.

humans do that as well, it sounds like an evolutionary trait that your cat is one of the first to develop
most cats dont really hoard things, though they do claim things.

Yes, our cats do it all the time.

He's just a hoarder, nothing wrong with him.
