Ar-15 Sling preference?

Alright, lets talk slings. What sling works best for you (specific brands are welcome). What kind of sling do you prefer? (1pt, 2pt, 3pt).

I like the 3 pt or 2 pt idea, but I am open to suggestions.

I use traditional 2pt. shooting slings. The USGI web sling with compression lock, and the Model 1907 sling.

If I was going to pick only one of these I'd take the web sling. It's light and cheap. ($8.- $15.)

I quite literally have no use for the so-called "tactical slings."

I like the 1pt sling, but the 2pt is much more useful. The 3pt is just retarded and gets tangled easily.

The 1pt is great for standing around looking pretty, but when you walk or run, it has a tendency to smack you in the knees, making running impossible, plus if you kneel down, you pack your barrel with debris as soon as it hits the ground.

    I vote for 2pt.

i personally prefer 2pt around the side sling lug on the barrel and around the stock assembelly (not the sling mount) Although this configuration is only available to the M4. On M16s It has to be attached to the sling lug on the bottom of the stock.

I prefer a single point sling for any sort of tactical weapons system. Including a AR system. They are great for shooting because you just drop your weapon and switch to a sidearm or use two hands to reload.

They aren't that good for securing your weapon though. For walking around, a dual point sling would be preferred as the weapon seems to dangle above your crotch as you walk around. Look in to the Magpul sling as it converts from a single to a dual.

I rather like the single point sling on my AR. I also avoid the 'tactical' harness style slings, its tough to get them on and off and frankly they look retarded.

A two point sling works well, its the classic standby and what i use for all of my hunting rifles/shotguns.

I use an M14 style sling on mine. Mine is an old school 604 build so I had to give it an old school sling.
