As i sit here watching COPS, i wonder...?

since Hi-point firearms represent such a small part of the overall gun market (guns sold annually), why is it that i have watched around 3 felons get arrested and they all were posessing Hi-Points illegally?

Is there a connection here? Hmmmm.

And to keep everyone happy, can i hunt moose with a Hi-point?

Update:

No, all of them have been either posessing illegally or already convicted felons. Im all for an affordable gun for the masses (im a 'mass' too...) but cant there be a better made one??

even the S&W sigma would be better.

Update 2:

regarding Straw purchasers: i guess its simple capitalism...buy low and resell high. A $160 C9 probably gets them $250 clean on the street...

It's a known fact that Hi Points not only function better when held sideways, gangster style, they also look better as well.

Yeah, I agree with the straw purchasers buying low and selling high.

A hi-point is the kind of gun you can afford to do a drive-by shooting with and then throw in the river if you're a street thug. It's unfortunate.

One of the reasons a Hi-point is so cheap is that the action is blow-back, the slide is just a zinc casting and there is minimal machining done to the gun. It is odd that they have a lifetime warranty for being such a semi-functional paper weight in most cases.

Idiot thugs on the street usually don't know anything about weapons either. They probably think hollow points make people explode.

I doubt most know would know the difference in value or functionality with a Hi-point, a decent Glock or an over-priced Robaugh

Well, at the hazard of getting politically flamed here ...

Because shows like COPS focus on crime linked to poverty, because there are a disproportionate number of people who make bad choices in general who are poor, and those among them that perform criminal acts essentially represent the people who make the worst choices.

So, you have stupid people, who are poor, who are making a bad choice on prime time television, getting chased down by street officers on patrol. No real "Lex Luthor" type master criminals here. Of course they are shooting Hi - Points, those are the cheapest guns you can get, and these guys don't know any better what the differences are. 20 years ago they were lifting Lorcins and Ravens off of these guys.

oh, and a Sigma would be better, and costs about 75% more than a Hi - Point.

Their cheap, it used to be the same thing with RG revolvers in the 60's and 70's, ring of fire guns (raven, jennings, bryco, phoenix arms etc) in the 80's and 90's and now hi points. I saw pics of a Boston gun buyback cache, and it was mostly junky cheapo pistols.

I used to know a guy who was a gangbanger when he was a kid, and he said they were never really pickey about quality, if it could go bang or be used in a robbery, then they would use it.

BTW, no you cant hunt a moose with a hi point :)

the super reason is fee of glass, fee of better gasoline (weight extra) and proofing relax of the automobile. 2nd, there is not any such element as bullet evidence glass. An AK 40 seven will pierce purely approximately all bf glass as will different super high quality and specific purpose ammo. i would not decide directly to be in a bf automobile besides. Even in Alaska we spend dissimilar time with our driving force factor window down. purely think of a severe skill around coming throughout the windshield or a widely used around coming throughout the open driving force window. That bullet has no thank you to get out of the automobile. Its gonna ricochet around interior the automobile like a meat shredder. In Iraq the sunshine and medium armored automobiles might enable a bullet or area of an IED penetrate yet as quickly as interior it no longer had sufficient umph to flow by the different factor so it purely bounced around for a at the same time as. I opt to count on my training to dodge the region. as nicely if somebody factors a form of .50cal sniper rifles at you tere's no longer something going to end it.

For one criminals generally aren’t that bright or they wouldn’t be a criminal as in being busted.

Also why would a criminal spend lots of cash on a gun he might have to throw away? I mean they are stupid but even a criminal wouldn’t want to throw a $1200 pistol out the window when he could throw a cheap one.

Yep they will kill a moose just shove it down its throat untill it chokes to death on it.

Are you sure they were felons prior to being arrested? The gun is very affordable to that I agree and making guns affordable should not be an argument not to have one. Sure the low life's with little income that will be their first choice, but it's also the choice of millions of low income law abiding citizens as well. Do you want to deny them as well?

I noticed that too. Thugs seem to have an endless supply of C9's and the carbines. I get the feeling they are straw purchaser's gun of choice.

I noticed this also. I seen an episode where the cops were making fun of the criminal for having such a cheap crappy gun. they refereed to it as a Saturday night special.

Isn't that called profiling? Also you can only hunt Grizzly bears with a Hi-point, they are known to increase muzzle velocity making them way to powerful for moose
