How many is too many guns?

As soon as I think I've got all I "need", I find another that I "need". I could actually afford everything I want but the wife pesters me about unimportant things like house payments, car payments, food. . .

Like anything in life, it's a balancing act. Every few hundred bucks you spend on a gun means you can't spend or save it for something else.

Personally, I've got 6. I could see building my collection to about 10, each gun with a specific objective in mind. Beyond that I really don't see much use.

As for the Beretta, do yourself a favor and test fire one. Go to a range and rent one if need be. A lot of folks, me included, found that we have to change our grip to reach for the trigger because the Beretta's grip is so darned big. You shouldn't have to do that.

There really isn't such a thing. Most practical firearms enthusiasts try to have at least a rifle or two for each class of game they hunt, plus at least a few shotguns--and definitely a few good rimfire rifles. Handguns are kind of an option, because many rifle enthusiasts don't take as much interest in handguns as they do rifles---and many handgun enthusiasts look upon rifles as being kind of an option as well. For some people, their favorite weapons are shotguns, so they own a plethora of those instead of rifles and handguns. And lastly, there are "anachronistic" shooters who prefer replicas of guns from yesteryear over modern firearms.

I have been asked if I have too many guns and think it is more of a personal limit. I enjoy each firearm I have, so don't see it as having too many. I have a lot of friends that have more than me and some who have less. I guess the real question should be, do you enjoy your collection? When you quit enjoying the prizes you bring home, then you have to many.

My question would be do you have ammo for those firearms? Another thing I am constantly told is I have to much ammo, right like that will ever happen. Keep collecting it is one thing we can pass to our children with pride.

you have too many guns when you buy one, bring it home, open the safe and go to put it in and then say "oh boy! I already own one of these guns already!'

There is nothing that say you have to shoot each gun frequently to justify owning it.

Heck, there is nothing wrong with having a 100 gun collection where 1-2 guns get fired 4 times a month and 10 guns get out to the field or range once a year and the 88 others just sit there.

When your wallet tells you.My dad has 4 guns and after 7 or 8 years just shot his marlin 336 because I bought a new rifle and he wanted to test it out.I got my first rifle in Feb or march and have shot it once,I got my shotgun in may or june and have shot it 3 or 4 times.Some guns you like to shoot more but when you want to shoot something different its nice to have it,right?

Its time to stop when you run out of room. Then you have to wait until you have more room, or trade in some you dont like any more, but think very carefully about selling a gun. There are many stories that start with " I had one of those, but i sold it because of some stupid reason".

When you need more than one 18-wheeler to take your collection to the range, you could probably stand to sell one or two.

When you can not put food on the table, it is time to stop. I keep a log of my guns, when I shot them last, bullets used and what rang I was shooting at. And I clean them after every use!
