How long does it take for anticoagulants to leave your system?

I donated stem cells recently in London (a week ago today was my second day donation) and I keep finding/getting new bruises with the smallest bumps. One I found this morning goes from my wrist down about 3 inches and is about an inch wide! I have no idea how it happened.

When I donated I obviously got anticoagulants. Does anybody know how long it takes for it to leave my body? Curious if that's why I seem to be bruising so easily?

Update:

Hi! You do with stem cells, yes. They have to as you're donating for 4 hours - if you didn't have anticoagulants, your blood would clot before you finished donating! As for the name of it, I haven't got a clue!

    I'm in America.

You get blood thinners to donate??? weird...

My next question is important.... what's the name of the blood thinner...

    __

Here in america, stem cells aren't donated as I know of...

Anyway, there are two types of anticoagulants.

Heparin (lovenox) is usually given on a short term basis, and the half life is very very short, like within hours of receiving it.

Coumadin takes anywhere from 20-80 hours to completely go away.

I'm sorry, but I just saw in your question that it has been a week ago. I really don't think you should be having that kind of thing happening if you aren't on blood thinners currently. Bruises, of course, show signs of internal bleeding under the skin. It's best you get this checked out. There may be some bleeding internally that you are unaware of.

    Sorry couldn't help more.

My guess is they use heparin in the blood filtration machine, as it is similar to dialysis.

You might be having a reaction. If you plan on going again, show them first. Otherwise, go to a doctor.
