anyone else's cat have a strange taste in food?
I have a cat that normally eats cat food, but sometimes when she's curious about a certain food that I'm eating, I'll let her sniff a small sample of it so that she'll leave me alone, but a lot of foods she actually ate that you wouldn't think cat's would normally eat. These include:
diced tomatoes from taco bell tacos
diet cola
grape koolaid
grapes
caramel from a caramel apple (Her favorite)
green beans
peas
corn
watermelon
If you are eating a caramel apple, she will not leave you alone and will climb all over you trying to eat some caramel, but if you're eating steak or chicken, she doesn't care and if you give her any she will just walk away. I thought cats couldn't taste sweet things. what gives?

Since you listed vegetables as "weird", I will include them here. Amongst my cats, they will eat:
Most vegetables [they don't like turnip greens or collard greens]. Their faves might be peas, mixed veggies, potatoes, and spinach (canned).
Cantaloupe.
Cajun foods.
Sechuan [not sure how to spell it -- that spicy hot Chinese food].
Apple pie (just found that out last night!)
Almost anything with Pepper Jack Cheese in it.
Raw tomatoes.
Coffee (decaf) with Half & Half
They'll kill for potato chips!

O.k your on the right track just a little off key. The key to having a indoor cat is lots and lots stimulation lots of toys and places to climb and letting them outside with a cat run with some places that have grass on them to let them do all what your asking and more. The cat run is tunnels running around the house. with open area for the cat to run hide climb all the things cats do in the wild but with safety and confines of your protection. Just putting a load of insects in fount of a cat will make a very board cat very quickly.

Yeah, my cats will eat just about anything, given the chance. I was very surprised that they liked sauerkraut. I did, however, find the one food I think is safe to leave unattended - panettone. I left one open on the table for a couple of hours and none of the cats touched it. I was amazed!

I have one cat that loves popcorn. She will beg for it, and when you give her a piece, she picks it up and carries it away to eat it like she's afraid someone will steal it! She also LOVES peanuts and peanut butter.
The other cat is curious about what you're eating, but will rarely eat it if you give her any. She even turns her nose up at meat.

No, my cat tastes fine with a little sherry.
Just kidding, I couldn't help it by the way you asked the question.
She likes good french or white breads and licking up whatever's left on the plate.

you shouldn't let your cat eat grapes/raisins because they can make cats sick.
other than that, yes. i have 2 cats, and one of them loooooves human food, the other is completely uninterested. the one that likes human food, specifically he really likes peanut butter, doritos, and beans. he is not interested in meat.

All animals are unique. My cat loves hot cheetos. No other kinds of chips. Loves all kinds of meat.
