Ok, what about PAL and NTSC?
I want to burn a DVD. I know that DVD players either play pal or ntsc. How do I choose which format to play? Don't most U.S. DVD players support PAL? I have an option to choose mixed format but I am afraid to burn the wrong format. Thanks

A DVD doesn't use PAL or NTSC. Those are broadcast standards for television transmissions. A DVD uses a video format, MP4 or similar. Your DVD player reads the data on the disc and changes it to a video and audio format your TV can use. If you're using an RF input on your TV, your DVD player has to generate the RF signal and will generate the RF signal for the country it was meant to be sold in. You need to burn the disc in a format that the DVD player you want to play it on can read.

Hello, both NTSC and PAL are tv system, NTSC is the TV system used in North America and most of South America, PAL is the TV system used in Europe and most Asia countries, it depneds on where are you living, if you living in USA, you should choose NTSC, and if you want to burn DVD so that can be played well on USA dvd player, you'd better use a right software to make a NTSC video DVD from you videos, and I know a good software RZ DVD Creator can do that well, easy to use, just run rz dvd creator, insert a DVD disc into your computer dvd burner drive, drag and drop your movies into the software, then select "NTSC-DVD" as target format, and select your computer dvd burner drive as target folder, then press START button, you will get a right NTSC video dvd from your movies, and you can watch the burned NTSC video dvd well on USA dvd player. You can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, easy to use, hope it could help you.

very few DVD players sold in north america support PAL playback. and even if they did, even less TV sets are PAL capable. Older CRT based TV sets have many tuned circuits and cannot switch from 30 fps to 25 fps. New LCD sets are more adaptive.
in Europe, dual standard DVD players, even VHS players, and TV sets are more common.

The U.S. and the rest of North America use NTSC. Also pay attention to the region code: we are in Region 1.
