What is The Point of YA Politics?

I mean no one actually wants a question answered that they ask (except me). No they ask questions to antagonize the other side of the political spectrum, insult them and belittle them. No one carries on a reasonable discussion of the issues in a calm rational tone, so why does anyone bother? No one is going to change anyone's mind here and then those that might come here looking for reasonable discussion are turned off by the nastiness and so the whole forum turns into a cesspool and it is getting worse not better.

Do people really think they are making a difference? Do they think they are helping? Is this the direction that discourse should take in the wake of the Tucson tragedy?

I don't get why people either outright lie or take a half truth and pretend it means one thing when it really means nothing of the sort.

I don't get why people post these lies from blogs that are so one-sided they wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on the ***. Do people really believe every word these obviously partisan blogs have to say?

What happened to skepticism and critical thinking? Why are posters who are so hateful and disrespectful allowed to stay on YA?

I think the point is for very small people to feel very big.

I agree. Politics and Religion are both just a constant antagonism. One is taught to always avoid those topics in conversation. I sometimes think the same is true here. Neither is a bona fide discourse or exchange of ideas.

i think anyone who is independent or really wanting answers would be totally put off by the incredible amount of hate that pours out from certain posters here.

It isn't all one sided either, I see stupidity and hate from both sides.

I stop by occasionally and lurk, but don't wanted to wind up in a pissing contest so I don't post usually.

It is hard to makes sense from meanness.

To get people to spend time on Yahoo! so they can sell ads to companies who hope that you notice, or ideally, click on their ads and purchase their products/services.

I think it does a good job of exposing liberal hypocrisy. Perhaps independents and undecided might get a more truthful view of the left's vitriol.

It's a place where a lot of attention seeking children gather to seek the attention they crave.

I dunno, it didn't seem to be so bad awhile back, but it seems to get worse everyday. I think a lot of people just think they are brilliant in the comments and don't see themselves as other see them (crazy usually).

    I don't get it either.

    It's an exercise in wit.

Gotta think quick or no one will read your asinine remark.
