My 6 Day old baby has slept all day... and hasn't eaten anything! Is this normal?
The doctors told me to wake up my 6 day old bundle of joy every few hours and try to feed her... Well today she isn't hungry at all and hasn't eaten anything, she wont breast feed or take it in a bottle. Im concerned but my mom tells me its fine... Is this normal? All she does is sleep like its the end of the world. PLEASE HELP

No, sounds like she's sick. I'd call the doctor and take her in, just to make sure everything is ok. Some babies do sleep for long periods of time, but they'll normally eat when they're waken up...

Thats not normal hun. Call your GP/out of hours. That is a sign of Jaundice. My son was the same when he was first born. he had to be woken up for his feeds and was quite badly jaundice. Is your babies skin slightly yellow/orange?? If so thats another sign.
Plenty of sunshine can help jaundice. My son had to have blood tests done every day till it got better but his was quite bad.
good luck xx

Doesn't sound normal if im honest, you need to wake and feed her and see if she will feed, you should take her to the dr, if your daughter ain't producing wet or dirty diapers you need to worry, i would take her to the doctor, I am a neew parent support mentor and lactation consultant if you want to chat

I would call the doctor. Most newborns want to eat every few hours, even if you have to wake them up and feed them.

i would call the dr since she is so young! there could be something wrong, especially if she is not having adequate wet diapers! she could become dehydrated very quickly! this happened to my daughter when she was 3 days old and had to be put into the hospital to get IV fluids! good luck!
