Do liberals really not want the kids keeping score and competing?

http://www.strategypage.com/dls/articles/The-Sad-S...

There's an article about how the Arabs can't make an army as effective as the US.

One sentence in particular sounds like a trend that's happening here.

"While Western officers thrive on competition among themselves, Arab officers avoid this as the loser would be humiliated. Better for everyone to fail together than for competition to be allowed, even if it eventually benefits everyone."

A little friendly competition is perfectly fine, even beneficial, but when taken too far it can lead to people sabotaging their competitors which has a strong negative effect. This is what many people believe has happened to politics. What is encouraged in children today is self-improvement, this eliminates the competitive element and means children strive to improve even when they are ahead of their peers.

Yeah, competition is the heart of everything liberals hate about freedom. Anything that actually allows one person to prove that they are better than anyone else at anything pisses liberals off. If everyone were to find something they were good at, and competed, than liberalism's reason for existence would disappear.

The first time my son played in a tee ball league I wondered why the score board wasn't on. I was told that they did not keep score because of past problems with "hurt feelings". This is why our kids are becoming soft and unwilling and unable to compete for anything as they grow into adulthood. Damn liberals.

EDIT: How could I have forgotten our local high school? Instead of having a top ten in the graduating class they adopted the top ten percent to avoid the "hurt feelings". Again, damn liberals.

  • The question is easily answered if one looks at what 0bama did to the voucher system in Washington, D.C.

This Conservative sent his only child to a private school. Result, SAT of 1570 (old system) and a BA in physics.

Interesting. I think friendly competition is very healthy. Supposedly muslims aren't known for self examination or being critical of themselves, or will admit when they're wrong, instead boastful and cocky.

Yes, if you can destroy ambitions and competition, you pave the way for a "collective" society. (and a dumbed down one!)
