How do you get a cat to take antibiotics?
The vet gave me a syringe thing and when we tried to hold her and squirt it into her mouth (and we tried to get it in the back of her mouth as best we could.) Afterward, she slobbered and foamed at the mouth and I'm pretty sure she didn't get much (if any) down, but what did just came back out. She's really a voracious eater, so I tried squirting it on the food, and she might have gotten some (but not that much) of it that way.
Is there anything else we can try???
So... the large amounts of foam/ saliva stuff doesn't mean she didn't get it down? Is that foaming thing normal? Will she not do that with the sideways angle?

If it squeezed it to the back of her throat she'll have no other choice but to swallow it. Cats often foam and salivate from the taste of the antibiotics. I have one cat that used to even start foaming when he saw me giving my ferret her medication! Usually it's human children's medicine that you're given so the flavour is banana or cherry NOT very cat-friendly flavours.
One thing I've found makes it easy is to scruff the cat with one hand, tip the head back then put the syringe right where the top and lower jaw connect at the back.
Don't bother squirting on the food as, like you said, no way to be sure she got enough of it.

Put the syringe further past the back of the cats tongue and down the cats throat and administer the drug with one quick shot. The cat is then forced to swallow as opposed to gagging and spitting up.
This may sound cruel but it is the only way to effectively assure that the medicine goes where it is supposed to. Try to do this as quickly as possible. The entire process should not last more than a few seconds. Then, when your done, let the cat go so that it can sulk for a bit. And then offer it a tasty treat and all will be forgiven.

First, expect and ignore the usual IDIOT answers you'll get from people who think hating or killing animals is somehow funny. Sick, pus-filled minds right there. Anyways, if your vet is very close by you can have them do the meds. Failing that, my wife usually gives meds to our cats - you kind of push the corners of the jaw to open it and get the dropper thing in a ways and give a good fast squirt. Food is an idea - try stirring it into canned food or even a small amount of TUNA (with oil or the juice). Some meds can be FLAVORED now - your vet can check on it. Good luck!

I, too , choose antibiotics for a feral cat I even have in my domicile. He won't come to me and that i won't be in a position to %. him up. he's peeing everywhere in the domicile and in need of taking photos him with a gun i won't be in a position to get him to a vet. you won't be in a position to purchase cat meds and not making use of a prescription. i've got carried out lots of studying and running a weblog and a few human beings pronounced procuring "Fish Mox" that's amoxicillan for fish. I purely ordered some for my cat and that i'll work out if it incredibly works. sturdy success which contain your cat.

Yes , she injests enough . Next time , try putting a towel over her so she cant squirm away , leaving her head open . Put her in the crook of your arm and have the other person hold her rump gently but firmly . Open her mouth , go in SIDEWAYS , and try to shoot it as far back as possible . You get better at it .

I've always found the best way is to place the pill or crumle the pill into his food.

My vet told me that if you rub their nose at the same time you give them the medicine it makes them swallow. Weird but give it a shot.
