Do you love Korea but hate K-Pop?

Yes I hate K-pop but I love my homeland.

Kpop don't sell in Korea other than select few demographics so they're looking to expand outside. Why are Korean singers who get into Billboard charts a huge deal (Far East Movement, Stony Skunk)? Why do all Kpop groups try to debut in Japan, go to Taiwan/Thailand/Phillipines, etc. all the time to hold concerts, fan meetings and all?

Honestly I lose interest if they go global, since they tend to be really non-existent in Korea, but I don't buy their music so neither side would actually gain/lose anything.

the kpop wave is called the hallyu wave :) its where korean culture and kpop and such as becoming well known in other countries

i am aware that the sub-category 'korea' is under 'travel' but like the person above me said, where are the kpop questions going to go? it would be more suited here than the music category as most of them are western music.

there is definitely more to korea than kpop, some questions are not about korean music.

and why are korean songs 'cheesey lame pop songs'? you probably havent heard any good songs then

kpop is amazing, most of the songs have meaning to it. I love how the majority songs don't have to do with clubbing, sex, being rich and yeah. Although sadly some recent kpop has been like that.

I like kpop more than american music, although american music is great too.

Plus, it doesn't mean that i think kpop is everything about korea. I love the culturee. I love my homeland, i have lots of korean pride. Love the fashion, culture, food, language and more. I espicially love the mountains and the seafood. Traditional things like hanbok and traditional food is amazing.

I'm going to korea soon in a year, I'm SO SO excited.

uhmm, where else would kpop go ?? there's no music section for it, and it fits better under korea than " pop " because it's all filled up with american music.. there's no " k " in front of it.. and if there was, there would have to be jpop and everything else too.. and if kpop is not " cheesey " and " lame ".. apparently, you're only judging it, just like the antis.. and south korea is about kpop, kpop will be everywhere in korea.. and if you don't like it, then don't go there.. and there's a whole bunch of different stuff about korea.. because, in my opinion, if you don't like kpop, then you don't like korea.. like i've said, kpop is everywhere in korea.. kpop music will be playing everywhere.. so you need to stop judging.. and you others too.. because kpop doesn't talk about sex, money, being rich, drugs, and things like american music does..

For me, I love K pop but dont really have that much interest in Korea but i do want to learn the language :) i really reckon K pop is really fun once you get into it, you'll realise that its great, even though im not korean, I still love K pop. Its fun for me coz i have a friend that is also a fan of K pop. And its not some cheesy lame pop songs, (well some of them are BUT) like i said before once you get into it, its actually great and you'll find other songs really amazing not just cheesy lame songs. So yeh thats just opinion :)

I'm Korean, but I don't really like K-pop. I like American music mostly, but there are some Korean songs I like. And like the other guy said, I love my homeland.
