How often are you feeding your toddlers?

My daughter is two year old ( 29 months old). She is failure to thrive and needs to eat more often. She is eating better but not enough to gain weight, I try to feed her something every two hours.

Update:

My daughter weighs at 23 pounds. Is 1 percentile on her weight and height chart this they count has failure to thrive.. My daughter been failure to thrive since one month old and she has a feeding tube that she gets high calories toddler formula during the night. I would like to get her to gain weight on her own and eat good so we don't need this feeding tube.

When my daughter was that age, she ate about every two hours. Try eliminating juice from her diet, even 100% juice is naturally high in sugar which is a double whammy because it's empty calories and an appetite suppressant. Aim for lots of good fats like salmon, nuts and avocado.

This is completely out of left field, but has she been checked for allergies?

My friend's son had not just lactose intolerance (where the body can't make lactase, the enzyme that you use to digest milk) but was actually ALLERGIC to dairy.

She was feeding him every couple of hours, milk-based health shakes with extra protein and vitamins, and couldn't understand why the child was still getting sicker and sicker.

He's a big, trouble-making teenager now. Healthy as a horse.

What do the docs say about your child?

I'm not even kidding you my daughter always has something in hand. I always have food out for my daughter. Mostly fruit. I also have her what I call "snack"drawer where she can reach to go get something if she wants. She's 29months as well about 34pounds and very active. The more active she is the more she eats. She eats really well. Find something she really enjoys and experiment with it. You may also consider taking her to a dietician to find out what works for her. Good Luck!

We do 3 meals and 2 snacks in between a day. So my toddlers are grazing every 2-3 hours.
