Why are people afraid to show their age on this site?

What are they afraid of? I don't get it. Am I missing the obvious?...

personally i dont share my age because people may judge me because they may think i know very little because of my age. and just ignore my answer just because of it. they also wont think i'm correct or credible whatever. also for security reasons... i mean if you knew i was 13 would you think i knew any thing about health or something? probably not. but i actually do....

YA requires that people be over 13; there are probably some younger.

Why do you expect that a person should show his or her age? If it's relevant, I mention it, but I'm not going to answer every random question giving my whole life history. What's the point? Do you invalidate any response from someone who's ten years older than you are?

Because people under the age of 18 could catch the attention of pedophiles.

I didn't even know you could see people's ages.

There are a lot of young kids on this site though, so that's probably why.
