My 3 month old kitten wont stop trying to nurse on my skin...?

she tries to nurse on my hands, arms and face...her mom abandoned her and was bottle fed and taken care of. I feel bad pushing her away when she tries to nurse because i feel like she is looking for comfort...but its very annoying and it keeps me up at night. Is there anything I can do to discourage her from trying to nurse on me? I have heard that you can try to get the kitten to nurse on blankets but im not sure how to get her to do it.

It should improve with age. My cat is a little over a year old and he used to nurse on blankets all the time, sometimes even shirts. Now he only does it occasionally. I guess it just takes time for them to readjust. She is still just a baby, after all.

P.S. I just remembered that I heard somewhere that if you place like a ticking clock in a cat bed and put blankets on it, the kitten will feel more secure because the clock mimics the mother's heartbeat. It could be worth a shot.

My friend and I had the same problem when we found kittens that were abandoned. For the first few weeks we had them they would not stop trying to nurse but soon enough they just stopped. I guess they just have to grow out of it.

My kitten does it too but he nurses on my neck. I find it kinda weird that my cat sucks my neck but he won't suckle anything else. Plus it's kinda sweet that he thinks I'm his mum

You are her mother now! She is just treating you how she would treat her mother.

In the day you can just put her down, and at night you can shut her out your room. She may miow at first but she will get used to it. Make sure her bed is mother-like.

Hide your hands under the sheets. lol maybe buy her some new toys and give them to her at night so she's distracted! :)
