Should I let my cats out on the balcony?

I live in a second story apartment with a nice balcony, and I've often wanted to let my 2 cats go out there. However there is a crepe murtle (not sure if that's spelled right) tree pretty close to the bars and I'm wondering if they'd try to jump onto it. That tree's bark is kinda slippery and they could fall. Thoughts?

Hi, I have two cats myself and my family and i live on a 3 story apartment and we live on the top level and you could say the bars are large enough for my cats to fit through, and we ALWAYS let our cats out, sometimes we even forget them out there, but it should be ok enough for them to go out there and they are smart enough to not go through them, you could always let one cat out and see how well he/she does for a few minutes out there.

mmm in that case, you could let them out in the balcony, but you should keep an eye on them, because they could easily jump on the tree, or you could cut off the branch and enjoy your balcony with your cats.
