secret marriage license?
I know two people (one is NOT me) who are trying to file a marriage license in secret because one is unbelievably famous and do not want anyone to know they're married in order to try and have a normal private life (as much as possible) - Think Janet Jackson/Rene Elizondo. The problem is I can't seem to find any document that explains HOW this can be possible in reality given marriage licenses are of public record. I've already thought of them filing on an "Indian" reservation (not sure if legal), filing under a pseudonym or initials (apparently not legal), filing for a license after the marriage has taken place (not sure is possible), filing in an area where the entertainer is relatively unknown or filing out of the country (both are US citizens). Anyone have any real legal info about this? Thanks for your help and serious replies. If you don't know, don't reply.

Yeah it's on families.com The artice name is "What are Secret Marriages?" and its by Heather Long. I binged it. It was like the first or second article to arrive.....I hope you are able to locate it!

In CA, when you pay for your marriage liccense you have two choices. Public and Non Public Information when it is filed. You simply pay more to keep it private. This way the only people who are allowed to access the paper work are the Wife, The Husband and a Judge.

Marriage licenses are public record. There is no way someone could file a "secret" one.
