Should I euthanize my cat?

My family adopted a 2-year-old cat twelve years ago. Now, she apparently has cancer, she's lost part of her nose and some teeth. She's been having some trouble eating and washing herself. Also, she seemingly can't climb anymore, as she couldn't go over a (quite tall) gate to the garden, thus defecating on the floor instead of outside.

We are still waiting for another veterinarian's opinion on her health. Still, my sister and father say we should put her to sleep. And I really don't know what to think. Help, please?

Ask the vet about what kind of quality of life she would have. If she's in pain, isn't going to be able to feed herself, then it might be time to let her go.

For now. if she's having problems going outside get her a litter box (with low sides) so she can stay comfortable in the house.

You're the only one who can answer that. It sounds like she's in pain and her quality of life has diminished.

14 years is a good life span for a cat, though I know it's never long enough.

Ask yourself if you're resisting putting her to sleep for your sake or for her sake and the answer should become clearer. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Peace be with you whatever you decide.

the final decision is deffinetly up to you but as long as shes walking and breathing and comfortable i wouldnt do it. i love my 11 yr old boy so much i would deal with the messes to let him live allll his life with us.

Wow, well, the first problem is that you are letting a sick cat go outside...

it seems that it is indeed time to euthanize your cat. if the vet can't offer a cure to make her better, its the humane thing to do. life has become a burden for her, and the kind thing to do is to end her misery...

If she's straining you financially, and if you can't ease her suffering another way, then I'd say yes you should. But it's your decision. I know how hard it is, I'm sorry.
