what does a reputable chimney sweep include?
we have purchased our first home, which includes a fireplace. Living in florida, i have never dealt with this before. I am going to hire a chimney sweep, but when they come, what can I expect? besides the chimney, will they also clean in & around the fireplace?

He SHOULD examine the fire box, the damper, the flue, and the chimney, and make any problems known to you
He will clean the flue, do a superficial job in the firebox and then clean his mess up.

A good sweep will do his job and leave no trace behind. They employ a sort of tent/bag around the fireplace, this collects all the arisings, I would ask first though. He should be part of a professional group.
