How do I get my cat to eat a banana?
My cat doesn't get enough potassium so I'm trying to get him to eat this banana but he won't. Is it because I took a few bites of it first? How can I get my cat to eat the banana?

It isn't true that cats don't eat fruit... Mine LOVES oranges(which they supposedly hate and some people actually use as a deterrent to cats. Hmm.) and any kind of Melon. Will absolutely go crazy if I have any... He doesn't eat bananas though.
They might make potassium supplements for cats.
Or it may be in the vitamins that are generally made for cats...
Call a vet to ask. Free over the phone. lol
(p.s.- How do you know it doesnt get enough potassium? If you took him to the vet to find this out, Im sure he didnt tell you to feed him bananas??)

To Lelly:
You are wrong. My vet advised me today to mash a banana into my cat's wet food to help remedy a potassium deficiency. He said not to give my cat potassium supplements. Where are you getting your information?

If your cat has test results showing he is low on potassium, just get a potassium supplement (Tumil-K is the one I know). You can get it in a powder that you can sprinkle on his food. It's made to be tasty to cats. My cat eats it no problem.
You really shouldn't be trying to get him to eat bananas anyway. Cats do not need all that sugar that is in bananas. Their body is not made to get nutrition from plant-based food. Giving him stuff with a lot of carbs/ sugar just makes his pancreas have to work harder than it should to cope with the glucose.
See Dr Lisa Pierson's site http://catinfo.org/ to learn more about cat nutrition.
If your cat is low on potassium, did you find out why? He may need more than a potassium supplement to help him with whatever is causing it.

Cat's are carnivores. They don't nor can they eat fruit. Get food or pet vitamins that supplement the potassium your cat needs.

i do no longer think of it could be undesirable for her as long as she has a proper cat food recurring. I even have heard that cats like cantaloupe and olives. i attempted those issues with my cats and it became right into a no pass.

The cat's smarter than you. He knows bananas aren't good for him unlike your dumbass.

Interesting question.. Mush the banana and spread it over the cat food. The cat wouldn't even know the difference. Boom. Problem solved.
