I have had several cats before and I know that litter sticks to the bottom of their feet when a step out getting it on the floor. there are mats you can get and put underneath the litterbox. if your cat kicking litter out when in the litter box then you need to get a larger deeper litter box- its too small

Get a box that has a ring around the edge. Not a COVER, but just a ring that snaps over the edge to help keep the litter from flipping out. Many box companies make them. They are like plastic edges that help keep the litter in. These are GREAT for litter flingers. If this doesn't help...YOu may have to get a top entry box that she enters from the top. Some cats just get carries away in the covering of smells. They can't cover all the smell so they just start flinging litter everywhere.

well when cats are doing there business out in the yard, they will dig a hole and try to bury it. I think thats what your kitten is doing to make such a mess.
