For now, you could use a damp washcloth. Her gums might be sensitive right now because she may have more teeth coming in soon. My baby always loved it when I brushed his teeth, and suddenly he hated it. Soon after, 4 teeth came in! Then he went back to normal.

Ignore the person who said don't worry about it. I thought that and now I have an 18 month old whose teeth are falling apart. There are sugars in everyday food like fruit and cereal. I have to hold my son down to clean his teeth. I hate it, but he needs to get brushed.

Try a finger tip brush. Or letting her hold the brush. Try distractions.

Maybe if you get the beginner toothpaste that has no flouride, and tastes good she might like it better. I know with some kids you just have to let them do it themselves mostly. What I do, is I let them suck on it a little, then before they take it out of their mouth I just do a quick brush to make sure everything is clean.

I use baby Orajel beginning tooth paste or Aquafresh beginning toothpaste it has a sweet flavor to it. That is the only way he will let me brush his teeth, and I usually act all excited when I brush his teeth , trick him into thinking its something fun

I use to get my kids to sit on the counter and I would brush my teeth with them. The younger ones would try to mimic the actions and would let me help them do it.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, they are just baby teeth and she isn't (hopefully!!) eating sugar. Just try to make it fun! Definitely let her chew on it, play with it, etc. Also you should brush your teeth in front of her and be happy and cheery while doing it!
