My cat has dandruff, but is allergic to salmon oil. What else can I try?

My 5 year old cat has always gotten dry skin and dandruff in the winter. It's starting already. I used to give her salmon oil and it worked beautifully until she developed an allergy to it. Now I have to avoid all salmon ingredients all together.

I was hoping for some suggestions from people who use other products to combat dry winter skin in their cats. Anything you've found to be helpful which contains no salmon ingredients. I'm doing my own research, but if anyone out there has suggestions based on experience, that would be very helpful to me.

Thank you folks!

Try olive oil. It's good for them also!

Our older cat has the same problem. Except she has it year round. I gave her a bath to try to get rid of some fleas she had. I used Dawn dish soap and then Some oatmeal vanilla pet soap to moisturize her skin again. Washing cats gets rid of the essential oils in their skin and coats. Oatmeal shampoo can help with that. But after I gave her the bath, I haven't seen any dandruff yet. It's been about 4 days now. I used the dawn antibacterial hand and dish soap with Pro-pet 4 in 1 Moisturizing Oatmeal shampoo. It worked great. Hope this helps!

Any common vegetable based cooking oil fed to the cat will help with dandruff unless the cat has a skin ailment.
