Could my son be allergic to our cat?
So my son is 4 and has always had seasonal allergies which got better when we bought air purifiers for the apartment. Here these past few days he has been congested. No fever or crankiness or anything. Just congested and sneezing and i noticed it is significantly worse when he messes with our cat which we have had since before he was born. Is it possible that he is just showing signs of being allergic now?

It could be, but you should bring him to an allergist to make sure. They can test and find out exactly what he is allergic to. If it is the cat, all you have to do is make sure the cat is dander-free...its the dander that people are allergic to, not the fur. You can do this by brushing the cat every day and giving it a bath once a week (or just wiping her down with unscented baby wipes...that will also remove the dander).

Yes, it could be. My daughter has seasonal allergies as well and is definitely allergic to cats. We had a test done for her at the the Allergist office and it showed she was in deed allergic to cats. Ask the doctor to have him tested.

sure -brush the cat daily & wipe with a damp cloth when you're done. dust the home with a damp cloth daily, wash all hands better, use the bulb syringe with saline drops more often, and follow up with the pediatrician.

Quite possible
Small kids is quite sensitive to all allergy and disease.
So be careful and keep away from the cat.

yes it is very likely, I would call your pediatrician and get a referral to see an allergist for testing to be sure ~ Until then, benadryl may soothe his symptoms
