My husband and I don't really keep track on how much we spend on each individual child. We tend to focus more on what their main gift will be, based on their individual wants, and make sure each of them have equal amount of smaller gifts. As long as each of them have equal amount of presents to open, and no one feels like why did Johnny get 10 presents and I only received 5? We are good to go. My kids really don't focus on whether or not we spent $100.00's of dollars on them or not. They are really just happy with whatever they get.

Well, my parents have 2 kids, and they used to spend 1000+ on each of us counting clothes and what not.
I live with my boyfriend and my stepdaughter (5) and last year he was the only one working (I quit my job because it was straight commission and I ended up losing money more than making it) and we just spent what we could afford on her-probably around $200 on her and maybe $100 or so each on each other. This year we are both working and make a decent living, so we will probably spend around $300 or so I would imagine on her. My boyfriend already got his major christmass gift (90 gallon fish tank), but I'll prob still get hims some movies and a video game or 2, and there isn't a lot I want so it will probably be around $100 for me (he would spend more, I just don't have very much I really want). Maybe for my step daughter it will be $300-$500. If we have our way it will be her last christmass as an only child, so we might as well make it a good one. Bottom line is we spend what we can afford to spend without going into our savings account or credit cards or neglecting gifts for each other and other people that are important to us.

Holy smokes! 2000 per kid!? Can you adopt me? ;)
We spend $100-150 on our only child. We do a lot of experience-based giving, too. Remember, you can make the most basic, simple gift a wonderful memory for your child by simply sharing it with them. Example: dollar store magic set, about $5. The very moment the child opens the gift, spending time showing them a magic trick they may have never seen before, and immediately showing them how to do it, and working on their new tricks. Awesome stuff :)

I have 5 nephews and this is how my sisters do it
For the 10 year old and 7 year old they get a 1 main gift they have to share. this year they are gonna get a play station 3 and 2 games.
Then they get some smaller gifts nothing over $50 per child.
Their brother who is 2 they are gonna spend $80 on him
Then my other sister gets separate main gifts for her 2 boys ages 3.5 and 5.
the 3.5 year old is getting this as a main gift Karaoke System with Disco Lights
the 5 year old is autistic and he is gonna get this Bazoongi 48" Bouncer
http://www.amazon.com/Bazoongi-BZ4808B-48-Bouncer/...
then they each get 5 smaller gifts nothing over $75

If I had to guess, I'd say that I spend about $100 on each of them.

I usually spend 2000 on each kid. I have 3. and then for my nieces and nephews i usually spend 100-200 dollars on each kid depending on what they want. Also I am a Black Friday Freak so 2000 on each kid goes a long way
