why does my cat ( male )keep trying to have sex with his offspring, also male?
My cat bread a few kittens and I kept one of them. Fluffy is about 2 years old now and is at that heat point. Kittyboo, the male daddy keeps trying to do it to him. Doesn't he know its a guy or should I worry about him?

This is a dominance trait. The father feels threatened by him, and wants to make sure he knows who's boss. If Fluffy is young, I would suggest keeping him separated unitl he is a full grown cat.
This dominance trait isn't just present in cats. Many animals, such as the dog- toward other males of any breed feline, and also mice-male may eat offspring) also show these signs of dominance toward another animal, or thing, for that matter. Keep them separated if you think Kittyboo is causing any real irritation toward Fluffy.

it incredibly is a dominance situation; that is instinctual and it does not recommend something different than the humping cat, who's older, letting the infant be attentive to that he's appropriate canines in the homestead (no pun meant). regrettably that is not correct in the event that they're neutered or not because of the fact that is not a 'intercourse' situation. My cats and canines have been neutered for 7 years and that they nonetheless hump the different animals. because of the fact you pronounced that the kittens are ~ 6 mos. i'm helpful that has alot to do with the poppa cat's habit because of the fact it is 'preadolescence" for the kittens. i don't be attentive to if neutering them will tone down his habit yet because of the fact you're going besides you will desire to point that to the vet. That being stated, male cats have been in many situations happening to kill their kitten offspring in an attempt to get the 'satisfaction' lower back to the way it became into b-4 the kittens got here alongside. in case you will desire to in all probability separate them whilst no person is homestead i think of this may be a stable theory. no person needs to come lower back homestead to a dull cat. stable success.

This is a dominance thing, not a reproductive one. If you haven't already, get both cats fixed.
Ocimom - *snort* I have 3 intact males, none of them mark or fight for dominance.

You need to NEUTER both males NOW. Its a dominance thing but with 2 unneutered males in the house you will end up with one or both spraying all over to mark territory. And they will start to really fight each other.

I suggest that you relocate your cats to California or perhaps even Canada where gay marriage is legal. If you care for your cats you would go the distance

I dont think animals care. a hole is a hole for them hence the name ANIMALS. and if he were a gay cat whats to worry over? its not like its your child that you will have to answer to the family for or something. relax. just try to keep them seperate for now so your little one does not get sodomizde
