tips on getting my 1 yr old off bottle?!?

My daughter is 13 mnths and i have her on cows milk now instead of formula. she taken to it fine. ive been trying to get her onto a sippy cup for her milk since i started her on cows milk over a month ago. she is not interested at all as she begun using her bottle as a comforter around 9mnths (id only let her take it to bed with water to save her teeth) and ive probably spent over a hundred dollars on all types of sippy cups with straws teets pop tops u name it .. and she wont have a bar of it. shell only take her millk from a bottle and i havent had the willpower (or patience at night) to just throw her bottles in the bin with an "if u really want it ull drink it" attitude because she just screams and screams until she gets it in a bottle.

any suggestions for my stubborn girl??? :)

Have you tried convertible bottles? The one I used was made by Avent. The sipper is interchangeable with a silicone bottle nipple. You could give her the cup, which is like a traditional sippy cup and also has handles, and use it with the nipple first. Then after a couple of days change out the nipple with the next level which is a rubbery spout (which my daughter loves for her sore gums from teething!) The cup part would be the same as it was with the nipple on there so it would be less of a transition in her hands. After the rubber spout the next step is a harder plastic spout, and then there are several even after that. Worth a try if you haven't tried that kind.

Well it depends on how fed up you are with bottles. If you are ready for the bottles to be gone you need to throw them away, otherwise I guess keep giving in with the bottle and let her decide when she's ready. I have 3 boys and all of them came off the bottle on their 1st birthday. I introduced a sippy cup at 6 months and never let them take a bottle to bed. It was no big deal for them when the bottle was gone. Good luck

Throw them all away and set a sippy cup of milk in her reach and when she gets thirsty enough she will drink from the soppy. A few days and she will be over the bottle

if its just the bottle at night that she wants then i would let her keep it for awhile especially if its just water she has for bed time. my daughter didnt want to give up her night time bottle at all, when she turned 2 she just gave it up herself, it didnt do her any harm and definately left for a much less stressed bedtime. but through the daytime, with meals definately keep trying....if she wont entertain a sippy cup then maybe you could try her with a regular cup, make a point of how grown up she is drinking from a big girls cup. of course you will probably have to hold it for her untill she learns to control it herself. letting her choose which one she wants to buy may also help. you will have more patience through the day so stick to your guns and if she wants to drink then she uses a cup. throw all her bottles out except one for bedtime so your not to tempted to give in and reach for it. good luck x

I did it cold turkey with my daughter. I found this red cup with rubber spout, it was made for transition and its by nuke I believe. Its got two handles. Of course she didnt like it at first but they never do. Children dont like change. But she adapted fine and I soon put her on the playtex kind with the hard spout. She is three now and drinks out of a regular cup. Best wishes.

Well when you have such a stuborn girl you have to be more stubborn and firm give her the bottle at night and chunk them when she goes to sleep (so you and her have no temptation to give it back) sorry bt unless you want a 6 year old drinking a bottle or her teeth misshapen from sucking on a bottle your going to have to suck it up and do away with the bottles patience and percevierence with get you through it i promise! and no sippy cups with rubber nipples it will cause confusion and probably make her regress back to wanting a bottle hope this helps!

Have you tried the Munchkin mighty grip? It's sold only on Amazon. It's closer to a bottle because the top is soft. My son loves them.
