Custody laws and how do they work?

I really think my boyfriend might try to get full custody of our will be soon borned child. I plan on moving to florida before the baby is born. i was wondering what custy laws could be apply for the baby if the baby is born in florida and if the father does not sign the birth certificate. I really do not want him getting custody of child because he is very abusive.

You are free to do as you please as a single mother you have sole custody and financial responsibility for your child. If he signs the birth certificate he is the legal father, but still has no rights. He can also request DNA but either way he will need to petition the court for visitation/custody.

The odds are deeply stacked against him getting sole physical custody. He will be entitled to visitation.

If you get Tanf or Medicaid they will automatically open a child support case.

the laws in the state of florida will apply. contest it and make him get a pretenity test

once he proved father and fit not alot you can do. this assuming you are a fit mother. not likely they will take child from you and give to him is you give child what it needs to be a healthy child
