Any way to help my poor kitten?
My new kitten has an Upper Respiratory Infection (she came from a shelter so I was expecting it). She has been to the vet and is getting better. She is eating again, playing and her sneezing and coughing has lessened.
Her problem is that her nose has been so runny and she's sneezed so much she has gotten a bloody nose (just a Tiny bit) I know this happens, but it makes me so sad to see.
I was wondering if there was anything that would help her feel better? When she was having breathing trouble I would take her into the bathroom and run a hot shower to help her breath. Would the same work for her nose now?
And yes I have called my vet about it, he said she was 'fine' and it happens, but I feel so bad for her.
Yes the vet had told my when I went in (and at other occasions) that for a URI humidity Can help them breath better- that's why I did it when she was having breathing troubles.
I'm not trying to Treat her at home, since the vet said it wasn't something that needed treatment. What I was wondering is if there is anything that may make her feel better, if the humidity of the bathroom would help her sinuses so she wouldn't have more bleeding.

What you can try is the infant saline nose drops - they have them at the drug store. It will lubricate her nasal passages, and may make her feel better. It can be tough getting the nose drops in a kitten (or adult cat) though - but they aren't expensive, are totally harmless, worth a try, and they may help.

I usually tell people to follow the vets instructions when it comes to this stuff and not try to treat the pet with home remedies. We all want to help them the best we can, and in this case give it lots of love. Though for a human steam and things help, you would not want to make it worse - and unless a vet has told you to use humidity to help her, I wouldn't want you to - it could make her respiratory congestion worse. So do what the vet says, he is the one trained in animal medicine - though we all have great ideas - we didn't go to university for this stuff. Trust your kitty to his care...... Provide comfort and love.... Best of luck !
