Flying advice, please help guys, absolutely urgent!!!?

Right, basically i'm flying in the morning and i'm scared to death of heights, i'm currently lying in bed and i can't get flying off my mind. It's makin me genuinely shiver thinking about what i will doing tomorrow and i can't distract myself from thought about the fear of tomorrow. There's nobody i can talk to about it until morning! Can someone please give me advice on how to take my mind off it for now and how to combat my aircraft fear of heights for tomorrow? thanks.

I'm scared of heights too.. I hate being up on something tall and looking down, I always feel like I'm going to fall or lose something. But I don't feel that way when I'm flying. Once you take off and am in the air, you almost forget that you're even up high because you get used to it. But for flying, unless a terrorist comes on, it's perfectly safe. Or at least it's a whole lot safer than it is to drive.

    Good luck!

Don't worry. I am afraid of heights as well but flying for some reason I don't feel afraid and actually prefer a window seat. I suggest what you do is to bring a book or magazine that you have always wanted to read, some snacks and an iPod with calming music to listen to in order to take your mind off of flying. Just know when you are in an airplane, it does not feel like you are 35,000 feet in the air.

Once the plane takes off you will not realise you are up high. I would fear heights if I was looking down from a tall apartment or similar but i have flown many many times and this fear does not come about. Ask for an aisle seat. Sit back and relax Concentrate on your breathing or read a book . you will hardly know you are in the air. Take off and landing are slightly scary but will be fine

You are going to have to relax! or you will have anxiety attack. I have a fear of ridding in elevators. So When I do have to ride one. I will take my reading material, I will have my water bottle, snacks. I take charge! I tell my self I am riding to what ever floor it is and I read my book, I stand by the door. I do not get pushed to the back. You can do the same for the air plane. If you can stay up, then when you get on the plane, you will fall a sleep. Take charge, pick the seat you want to seat in, once you passed threw security, buy your food, and drinks, snack to take on the plane, nuts, gum etc. To help to relax you. Also you can take a over the counter benadryl. Take Charge! You can do it. Also ask God to give you strength and have faith in your Self! Have a great flight! also you can take your I-Pod and a movie to watch too.

Please try to relax and think of something you enjoy doing. It is not unusual to be afraid of flying and height especially if, this is your first time. Try taking a shower or soaking in the tub, read a book, get you a snack and try to get a few hours of sleep. Hope you can relax and enjoy your trip.

Just don't look out the window. Or if you are on a window seat, you can close the shade. Just think of it as a very loud bus..
