Chapter V

The Names of the Hells

Commentary:

This is the fifth chapter called the Names of the Hells. What are the hells? Who created the hells? Jails exist in the human realm as well as the underworld. In the human realm the government builds prisons for criminals, is it the same with prisons in the hells? No, the jails are not like the ones already built and ready in the human realm so that criminals can simply be locked up. Different labels are given to forms of confinement in the hells, but they do not exist in physical form; the hells are invisible. Only when it is time for you to face your sentence do the hells appear. In other words, depending on your offense, the hells manifest as a certain type of jail. Neither people nor ghosts create this type of prisons, individual karma does. Depending on one’s karma, a certain type of hell exists for one in the underworld. The underworld is always dark; there is no sun or moon. Depending on the offenses created, a certain type of hell occurs in the hells. A hell that is realized by the offenses you accumulate is quite an ingenious and inconceivable situation. This is why hells have names but no tangible substance; a hell appears when it is time for one to face one’s offenses.

Sutra:

At that time, Universal Worthy Bodhisattva Mahasattva said to Earth Store Bodhisattva, “Humane One, for the sake of gods and dragons, those in the Fourfold Assembly, and all other beings of the present and future, please tell us the names of the hells where beings in the Saha world on the continent of Jambudvipa must suffer retributions for offenses they commit. Please also describe what happens during retributions undergone for evil deeds, so that beings in the future Dharma Ending Age will know what those retributions are.”

Commentary:

At that time, Universal Worthy Bodhisattva Mahasattva. . . Everyone knows Universal Worthy Bodhisattva? He rides on a white elephant with six tusks. The power of his conduct is the greatest, so he is also called Great Conduct Universal Worthy Bodhisattva. This great Bodhisattva said to Earth Store Bodhisattva, “Humane One, another name for a Bodhisattva, for the sake of gods and dragons, those in the Fourfold Assembly such as Bhikshus, Bhikshunis, Upasakas, and Upasikas, and all other beings of the present and future, please tell us the names of the hells where beings in the Saha world have to bear suffering, where beings on the southern continent of Jambudvipa must suffer retributions for offenses they commit. Please also describe what happens during retributions undergone for evil deeds, so that beings in the future Dharma Ending Age will know what those serious retributions are in the hells.”

Sutra:

Earth Store Bodhisattva replied, “Humane One, based on the awesome spiritual power of the Buddha and relying on your strength, great Bodhisattva, I will give a general list of the names of the hells and describe some of what happens during retributions undergone for offenses and evil deeds.

Christians always think their views are the only ones that count but if you really look at Christianity, It's a pretty kooky religion! I don't adhere to any religion cause they are all man made. I think we are all born with an innate sense of right and wrong. I would just go with that and stay away from all the religious mumbo jumbo stuff!

My God would not create any being he knew would be tortured for eternity. In my opinion you are no greater/worse than me. Although I'm not 100pct Christian, my prevoius beliefs would have conflicted with this.

If the Bible says something, like... its one way or the highway(hell), if people dont take that oneway street the believer thinks they are taking the highway. When I was reading the bible I found many ways, 3 that I can think of all of which are one way. Believe in Jesus/Do the will of God/You must be reborn.

Adam's actions made every human deserving of Hell. God cleaned up Adam's mess by sending Jesus so that by accepting him we could enter heaven. If you don't take the way out he provided you suffer the consequences. Cause and effect. If I'm sick with a fatal disease and I refuse to take the cure, I die.

Jesus paid with His own Blood for your sins.He is the only acceptable sacrifice, because He was without sin before God, for God only accepts a perfect sacrifice. He is offering to cover your sins too, all you have to do is accept his gift.

Now, if you did not have any sins, you would not need His sacrifice

Jesus died, rose again, ascended to Heaven and live forevermore. He is the Resurrection and the Life. In His resurrection body, He beamed into a closed room without opening the door. In our resurrection bodies, Christians rapture/beam to meet Jesus in the air on the clouds. Jesus said that He is God Revealed.

Buddha never claimed to be God. Buddha worshiped Dhamma as in the scripture Dhamma-pada. Buddha said, "Only those who live under Dhamma will reach the place beyond death" (Dhamma-pada VI:86). In others words, Buddha was saying that you must live under Dhamma not to go to hell.

But who is Dhamma (the Truth)? Only Jesus proclaims to Dhamma, Dao (the Way), and the Life (John 14:6). Thus, you must live under Jesus.

Jesus Himself proclaims that He has religious followers not of Judaism that He is bringing together (John 10:16). Magi of Eastern religions bowed & worshiped Jesus (Matt 2:11).

According to Hindu scriptures, “The only way to immortality is to know Purusa. There is no other way to immortality” (Svetasvatara Upanisad 3:8, Yajur Veda 31:18). Purusa means the Person in English. Purusa is the Supreme God Prajapati, who created the universe and yet was sacrificed (Rg Veda 10:90:6, Svetasvatara Upanisad 3:11-12, 15, 4:2, Mundaka Upanisad 1:2). The prophecy of Purusa was fulfilled in history only in Jesus.

Confucius worshiped Dao , also known as ShangDi. The ancient character ShangDi symbolizes “God On A Tree,” as can be seen in the cover pages of “God’s Promise To The Chinese” and “Highway To Your Immortality."

Unlike the 5 pillars, the Quran proclaims that salvation is only through the Grace of God (Rahmanullah or Allah Ar-Rahman). “None shall have the power of intercession, but such a one as has received permission (or promise) from Ar-Rahman” (Quran 19:87). See also 17:110 25:59-60, 20:108-109, 19:18-21. The Quran calls out Ar-Rahman most in Quran chapter 19 titled “Mary” the mother of Jesus.

The Bible proclaims that we are saved by Rahman (Grace) through Jesus, not by our own works but as a gift, and transformed by Rahim (Mercy) through the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-8 NKJV, Eph 2:7-8). Truth and Rahman came through Jesus (John 1:17). Jesus is Ar-Rahman, and the Holy Spirit is Ar-Rahim. The Quran agrees with the Bible that intercession or salvation comes only through Jesus Ar-Rahman. We pray in the name of one Allah: the Father, the Most Gracious Son Jesus, and the Most Merciful Holy Spirit. Thus, according to the Quran and the Bible, salvation is only through Jesus.

Historically “This formula – Bimillahi rrahmani rraheem – is of Jewish origin. It was in the first instance taught to the Koreish by Omayah of Taief the poet (one of the Hanyfs, Sprenger, i.76) who was a contemporary with, but somewhat older than, Muhammad, and who, during his mercantile journeys into Arabia Petraea and Syria, had made himself acquainted with the sacred books and doctrines of Jews and Christians (Kitab al-Aghani, 16, Delhi). Muhammad adopted and constantly used it, and it is prefixed to each Sura except the ninth” (1876 J.M.Rodwell “The Koran”). Syriac Christians at the time of Muhammad called Jesus as Rahmana (1902 H. Hirschfeld “New Researches into the Composition and Exegesis of the Quran). Allah rRahman is Jesus.

Thus, all true religious paths lead to Jesus, who gives the world not only inner peace but universal world peace for all through His Agape-love. Jesus fulfilled world scriptures and the only person to defeat death and live forevermore in human history.

I suppose as long as you accept the Abrahamic god as the all powerful ruler of creation your ok by Jewish and Muslim standards.

A book says so, that is the only reason.
