why do cats hide when they are dying? my one cat died a year along and she hid from us!

When cats don't feel well their instincts tell them to hide away somewhere quiet because they would be vulnerable to attacks from predators or rivals. Ideally when they feel better they will feel it's safe enough to leaving their hiding place. Unfortunately if the cat is very sick and doesn't recover or get treatment, they may die in that place. This is why some people assume they've deliberately gone there to die but that isn't true because cats have no concept of lifespan or their own mortality.

Cats like to die in peace and without anyone around. Many animals are like that and will hide to die.
