When do you write? Do you find that life gets in the way?

Writing is my passion, but between working two jobs and trying to have some semblance of a life, I'm ashamed to say that I find it hard to find the time to write. How do you fit it in? When do you prefer to write?

I'm retired now so life never gets in the way but when I was working I used to get up one hour earlier than necessary in order to write. There is always some time on the day that you can put aside even if it is not for long - sometimes thirty minutes is enough and of course there is always weekends. Be careful of overwork too - you might think everything is OK but stress due to overwork can creep up on you unawares. Good luck with your writing.

My ideal time to write is at night, when it's dark outside and the house is completely silent. But I don't always have that chance. So normally I write whenever I get the chance. I'll write in between my classes, or in the car when I'm waiting to pick up my little brother from the bus stop. Sometimes I can just squeeze in a couple sentences at a time, but I find that it isn't all that hard for me to make time for what I like. Especially on the weekends, some weekends I can get a lot done.

Sometimes, life does get in the way. But I find, that because life can be so hectic and busy, it makes writing feel even more special when I get the time to do it.

when I was far too busy to write I would do it at night and wonder why I wasn't fit for work in the morning. Then I learned the trick of using an alarm clock to time an hours writing time, and never went over the hour. Sometimes it worked, sometimes I spent the entire hour racking my brains to solve a writing problem. Now I'm retired and have lots more time, but there's often something else to do.

This must sound rather terrible, but I usually write during class or lunch at school. I get so bored and tired of everything they're saying I simply zone out.

I guess it lets me have my fun or something. My life is so bland and dull and methodical, it gives me a moment to make anything real; it lets me make my own story.

Not the one a test will choose for me.

I write after school sometimes, too (if my brain isn't burnt to a crisp). But sometimes I'm too tired to think straight and write well; all that on top of Meres Irlens (like dyslexia, but more curable) makes about anything tiring.

Yeah life does get in the way. But I'd rather have one then none.

I like early morning, though I can jot notes down during the day as well.

Life does get in the way so you have to make time. I find my mind is thinking of images as I travel to work.

Two jobs is a lot though and I'm impressed you find time at all. I suspect this may be like me, that your writing helps add a little balance to life. From that perspective it's possibly worth putting a small amount of time aside each day.

I write a sentence or two during the days I'm busy (or just exhausted). And other days I try to write at least two pages. I've also sketched out the novel I'm writing before hand so I at least have an idea of where I'm going when I put in all the details, etc.

I find it hard to fit it in too and sometimes I don't be bothered to write but I am determined to finish the book I'm writing, I think you just need to take about an hour a day and write a chapter or even a couple if you can, just any spare time you have try fit your writing into that!!! Hope this helps!!! I also prefer to write listening to music in the comfort in my bedroom, sometimes music gives my inspiration, I know that sounds cheesy but ah well lol!!!

You have to make it a priority, convince yourself that you have no choice.

Whenever things come to mind, just write them down, even if its on your phone, or on the computer. I usually jot down notes of things i think of. I write lyrics. So, i can always combine mine together in the end.

    But, goodluck :)
