Special effects in films where a person is thrown... how?
Just watching Terminator Salvation, which I think is a pretty terrible film. But it got me thinking about the scenes where the terminators man handle people and throw them across rooms.
How is this done in terms of special effects? Does some huge pneumatic thing throw people? Or is it purely CGI?

They usually wear a body harness and a winch tugs them back, here's an example
