It depends on the university, the course and how popular the course is and how far away you are from getting the grades. If the course isn't already full or over-subscribed and you're not too far away with your grades, they're quite likely to accept you. If they're a university in the Russell group and/or the course is very popular and over-subscribed, they're less likely to accept you. Sometimes they might offer an alternative course instead, but think carefully before accepting it rather than just jumping to accept anything. There's always clearing, you can normally find a course there, but again think carefully before jumping to accept anything.

If you just fail to get the grades then they might still accept you if the course has space although it depends on the uni Cambridge probably won't nor will Oxford. If you fail Badly like get 40 ucas points and you need 160 you may be offered a place on an HND in the same subject If you pass that you can get do whats called a top up year to get your degree the nice thing about that is if you fail that year you still have your HND to fall back on Good luck

It rather begs the question why you chose to go to uni in the first place if you would be prepared to take an alternative course. Did you have a particular career in mind? If so, it might be possible to get there via a different route, apprenticeship perhaps. Many companies put their employees through university to do the appropriate degrees if they think they show promise. Think carefully about this. The job centres and job sites on the net are flooded with graduates with useless degrees who cannot get jobs or are prepared to be overqualified for the jobs they are offered.
Daughter obtained her degree through her employer. Included a lot of evening and in-house study but all paid for by her employer. Eldest grandson taking same route. Other Grandson has specific career in mind so will go to uni. Hope this helps. Best of Luck
