My Long haired Queen has a lot of awful knots in her fur even though she gets groomed everyday?

My cat is a dark long haired Turkish angora, so she's very fluffy! When I read about her breed it said she is close to a Persian cat however she does not need to brushed everyday. But I do brush her everyday just in case.

One day when she came back from the rain (I usually brush her after getting wet) this time she didn't let me brush her-one day can't hurt right? But she has really bad knots and she gets more every week.

She has also not been feeling well lately :( she's with me now, always sleepy, hardly eating, weak and just wants me to comfort her

Also we had a fox and 3 cubs living in our garden. My cat stays well away from them even if it takes not going outside. We gave her flea medicine and dewormer just in case (as usual as she dose get fleas at this time/season) now the foxes have gone thank God.

Could the foxes have something to do with it. Please help. Thank you for reading and answering my cat and I really appreciate it. :)

The cat is sick - take her to the vet for treatment. First of all if its a real Turkish Angora and not just a domestic long hair, the coat is SILKY - not like the Persian coat. I owned a TA and know what type of coat they have.

Second, you do NOT brush any long hair cat - you use a fine and medium toothed comb on them to prevent tangles/knots. Brushes go over the surface; not get down to the undercoat and skin like a comb does.

Third, if you were using over the counter wormers and flea products (other then Frontline, Advantage, Revelution for fleas) your cat is probably very sick and needs to be in the vet's office tomorrow.

Who knows if the foxes carried any thing to make her sick.

Those knots are matted fur. It happens when a long hair walks under bushes and rolls around on the ground. Sometimes a seed gets trapped in the fur. Do not brush or comb when the cat's fur is wet. Haven't you ever run a brush through your hair after a shower (and not use conditioner)...it hurts. Brushing and/or combing is very pleasurable to an animal if it is done gently. The mats will probably have to be cut out.

Cats get under the weather just like people. They have days they don't feel their best. It is not a panic situation. Usually, like us, they pop back with more energy the next day.

brushing is useless on a long-haired cat. They need to be combed - not brushed - daily. And a long-haired cat does not do well outdoors, as all their 'encounters' cause even more mats in that long hair. An ill cat will not groom themselves - your cat is clearly ill from the symptoms you describe, and needs to see a vet. It's not flea treatment and worming that is her issue - and it may or may not be related to the foxes. Make a vet appointment for her.

Well with her breed they tend to get lots of knots. its good that u brush her everyday but it may not help if she goes outside. i have a cat and she gets knots and at this time its very hot so we just shave her, that could help in ur case too. with the sick thing u should probably take her to the vet.and the foxes might of had something to do with it, u know it could of had rabies.

Usually, that is too long for me. I think it depends on the guy and his face though. Certain guys may pull off long hair and other people can't.
