Does anyone have a package of IKEA's Swedish Meatball Sauce mix?
I tried to make IKEA's Swedish Meatballs tonight, but the instructions were so small that I couldn't read the amount of water that is needed. It's been a while since I made it, so I didn't remember how much I previously used. I even used a magnifying glass and it looked like 1 1/S cups of water. It just didn't make sense, so I used a cup of water, which ended up being way too much and the whole dish was ruined. If you have a package on you, could you let me know how much water is used? Thanks.
Thanks WinterBABY. I'll do that the next time I make it. My husband was stirring the sauce and didn't notice that it was way too thin. It was literally tasteless. I even tried looking online for the instructions, with no luck. Everything I found was for the homemade meatball recipe.

I have here a Swedish package of IKEA cream sauce mix for meatballs, and it says 280 ml of water and 70 ml of cream. Last time I did it, I changed the proportions because my measuring cups are not that exact. Total amount of liquid is 350 ml, so I used 250 ml water and 100 ml cream. As far as I remember, it worked beautifully. NB: you need to whisk ferociously at first when mixing to make sure there are no lumps, otherwise the sauce might not thicken properly. It does take at least 2-3 minutes of simmering before it thickens. Use low heat when simmering and stir often, if too much of the mix burns to the bottom it will just taste burnt, and is unlikely to thicken properly.
This is exactly what it says on the package:
1. Pour 280 ml of cold water and 70 ml of cream into a saucepan, bring it to boil.
2. Add contents of packet, stir well.
3. Simmer the sauce for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
I also got furious because the text on the package was so tiny!
A US legal cup is 240 ml, so perhaps your package said 1 1/8 cup of water. However, 280 ml is almost an imperial cup, which would give you 1 imperial cup of water and 1/4 imperial cup of cream. Confusing!
